Bulls On A Wire

Category: Whats Up With...? Permalink

Bulls on a Wire

What's Up With ..... An on going series of observations of curiosities on the city streets.

The focus of today's What's Up With the mounting number of Red Bull cans strung up over the streetlights or electricity lines in the village. I first noticed a pair of these cans dangling from the light pole on Bedford and Carmine street, (phone cam shot) just down the block from Blue Ribbon Bakery.

This in itself was odd but nothing is really odd or out of place. As the phrase goes., Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, Three times is enemy action. When observing urban landscapes this is not a bad rule of thumb transposing enemy action with say possible trend.

It was not a day later that I spotted a second instance of Bulls on a Wire then a third. This led me to believe that this was a concerted effort to mark locations that sold Red Bull putting a twist on the sneakers on a wire signifying a rural cop spot, a market lost on me when it might of mattered.

It was not until a stooge and one time minute men let me in on their significance while we walked down a city street this past spring.

This campaign if indeed it is one, grassroots or gorilla, catches people who look up. The high wire sister to sidewalk stencils adorning street corners..This is by no means condoning them, in fact I was incensed the secound i saw the first pair. The fact that I have had three Red Bulls in the past two weeks, more then I have had over my entire lifetime
